A Bay Area native, ab Menon received a M.M. in Jazz Studies from University of the Arts in Philadelphia. ab has been working as

a freelance guitarist for twelve years and music teacher for nine, bringing

a collaborative, proficient, and enthusiastic presence to all his endeavors. Currently,

ab plays with the progressive soul bass-led Token Girl, of which he is a founding member. Additionally, ab works regularly as a sideman, performing styles ranging from New Orleans Jazz to R&B and much more. ab’s most recent release, ab Menon Trio, showcases his passion for the rhythms of the Hard Bop era.

  

ab’s approach to teaching utilizes material that students are excited about as a vehicle for learning about different elements of music. He’s affectionately dubbed this method “following the stoke” and has utilized it with a diverse range of guitar and keyboard students in private and group settings.
